My Story

Since 1984, I have been a fierce mother for my 5 children and I would walk the ends of the earth for them. Then something happened and I realized I was forgetting to walk to the ends of the earth for me! To be honest, life got weird when my last one - my daughter - left the nest. I found pottery (and my sweet angel dog Rocket) and fell in love with the visceral experience of creating something beautiful out of the mess. It felt like a metaphor for my life. Those who’ve been to my shows know how much I love a good Leaf Plate and sometimes I take a break with some comical relief through my little critters. Pottery reminded me to love and care for myself just as much as I care for those around me. The studio became my safe space and I’d highly recommend to anyone in the Tri-State Area. (Hi Sue!)

The name “Morning Glory” comes from a personal part deep within my soul. My husband’s parent’s “John and Jackie” (but really named Margaret) left this earth in recent years and the loss has been hard on us all. My husband’s parents became my parents after mine had passed away and I miss them dearly. They lived on a street called Morning Glory Road and - as such - I decided it was most fitting to name my Pottery business after that road as a tribute to them.

I hope you enjoy my work and feel free to use the ‘contact’ page for questions about online ordering, custom orders, or artistic collaboration. I currently focus on local selling but might dip my toe in the virtual world in the near future. Stay safe & stay tuned!

With Love,

DD

“It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.”
